Cancellation policy
Last updated 15 October 2026
This policy explains cancellations and refunds for event tickets bought on Geco Tribe, operated by Food and Beyond Company Ltd. These rules apply to event tickets. Shop and cafe purchases are outside this policy. A host may publish clearer terms for an event. Those terms apply when they do not weaken the cancel and postpone protections below.
Overview
There is no refund because you changed your mind or because you cannot attend.
Who can cancel
Hosts and attendees have different rights:
- A host may cancel or postpone an event before it starts.
- An attendee does not get a refund for a change of mind or for being unable to attend.
When the organiser cancels
If the host cancels the event, you are entitled to a refund of the ticket face value. The platform fee is not refunded. We email affected buyers when we can, and we help process the refund. The organiser is the host of the event. When Geco Tribe hosts, that organiser is us.
When an event is postponed
If the event is postponed rather than cancelled, you may:
- Keep your ticket for the new date.
- Ask for a refund of the ticket face value if the new date does not work for you. The platform fee is not refunded.
- Transfer the ticket only when the host says transfers are allowed.
How to request a refund
Email gecocafe@gecotribe.com with your order or ticket details and say whether the host cancelled the event or postponed it. There is no refund button in the site. Requests based on a change of mind or on being unable to attend are declined.
Refund timeline
An approved refund goes back to the original payment method where possible. As a guide, card refunds often take several business days and mobile money is often faster. Timing depends on the provider. This is a guide, not a guarantee.
Fees
When a refund applies, only the ticket face value is returned. The platform fee is not refunded. Face value means the ticket price, excluding any separate platform fee charged to you. Checkout does not need to show that fee as its own line for this rule to apply.
Non-refundable cases
Unless the host cancels or postpones the event, the following are not refunded:
- A change of mind.
- Being unable to attend.
- Choosing the wrong ticket type.
- Losing a ticket or sharing it.
- Any other case outside the cancel and postpone rules.
Special circumstances
If an event is affected by something extraordinary, such as a natural disaster, a public-health restriction, a government order, or a venue closure, the result is still a cancellation or a postponement under this policy and under Kenyan law. A documented emergency can be reviewed with the host. That review is not a guaranteed refund.
Disputes
This policy is governed by the laws of Kenya. Disputes are heard in the courts of Kenya.
